My interest is focused on studying the metabolic syndrome and its complications, including
the cardiovascular diseases, in Ossabaw Swine.

Panel A: Cross-sectional image from lean pig showing no atheroma (total degrees of atheroma = 0%).

Panel B: Cross-sectional Image from obese pig showing significant amount of atheroma (total degrees of atheroma = 70%).

Presence of atheroma was determined at each segment (mm) of the coronary artery during an automated pullback of the IVUS imaging transducer through that artery.
